ABOUT WORLD COUNCIL OF ELDERS

Vision
Many cycles are coming full circle. The pieces of the puzzle are coming back together. The traditional indigenous wisdom-keepers are gathering in council all across the globe. The prophecies, ancient stories and teachings of their peoples tell them that now is a time of critical choices. The Elders, who have carried the wisdom of their peoples for millennia, are now willing to share their sacred teachings and healing knowledge to restore the balance of life on Earth.

A nonprofit organization, World Council of Elders, Inc., has been created to facilitate the gathering of the world’s indigenous wisdom-keepers, and to help them share their teachings worldwide for the benefit of all peoples.

Mission
World Council of Elders, Inc. is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, educational organization dedicated to integrating authentic indigenous wisdom with today's knowledge to honor, nurture and restore the balance of life on Earth. We also are committed to preserving native cultures, languages, teachings, spirituality, healing practices and sacred lands essential for worldwide healing, peace and sustainable living for future generations.

Brief History

World Council of Elders, Inc. was incorporated in February 2000, as a nonprofit organization based in the beautiful Rocky Mountains of Colorado. Subsequently, WCOE received recognition as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt educational organization in June 2001.

Since its inception, WCOE has sponsored dozens of international Elders' gatherings involving healing ceremonies and sharing sacred teachings in many countries throughout North, South and Central America as well as in Hawaii & Australia. To date, over 100 Elders from dozens of indigenous cultures all over the world have been involved with these WCOE gatherings and educational programs. Elders have come together from cultures as diverse as the Inuit of the extreme north, the Maya of the mountains of Central America, the Witoto of the Amazonian rainforests, the Quechua of the high Andes, the Lakota of the plains and the Ojibway of the woodlands of North American, the Maori of New Zealand, and the aboriginal stewards of the sacred lands of Australia. In addition, through WCOE's events, several thousand members of the public have had direct experience working with and learning from these humble healers and teachers.

Join with us to learn more, to reconnect with and restore the rhythms of the natural environment, and to reawaken and remember our own inner knowing that truly, “we are all related.”

Mitakuye Oyasin.
